Gibbet Cage and skeleton, Rye Castle Museum
As part of new display area, Rye Castle Museum – Ypres Tower, commissioned MC Modelmaking to produce a full-size replica of this famous artefact. Originally manufactured in 1743, the cage was used to display the corpse of murderer John Breads. The museum required an accurate replica of the weathered cage to hang in a new display area, containing a skeleton replica to depict the exhibit as it hung on Romney Marsh for approximately 50 years. The cage was manufactured as a mild steel fabrication with resin and paint effect weathering, the skeleton was an adapted anatomical model.
